Warm greetings from Florida to all our FIC friends. Sally and I are honored to be chosen to lead this wonderful group of people that believe as we do in promoting appreciation and awareness of other cultures through direct people to people contact. Although we are new to the national FIC scene, we were involved with the former student exchange program in the Buffalo chapter for many years. During that time we had the opportunity to travel to Ecuador and Peru several times and have many friends there. In 2007 we traveled with FIC to Egypt and were enthralled with the people, the history, and the architecture. It was especially nice to share a meal with an Egyptian family in their home and learn more about their foods, customs, and aspirations That experience goes to the heart of what FIC is all about.

One of our main goals as your new president couple, we do everything together, is to expand the membership. We will use our contacts in Western New York but your help is crucial to make this a national effort. Do you have friends and family that share in FIC's ideals? They may not be interested in international travel now but that is not our main focus. It is simply one of the ways to promote our goals.

We look forward to meeting many of you at the Annual Convention in Virginia, June 20-25, 2008 and the fall trip to Thailand and Singapore will be a tremendous opportunity to interact with people of a very different culture from ours.
