The President's Corner
By Edwina Shell-Johnson
Dear Members and Friends,
This will be a short letter because I am traveling, taking advantage of the cheap holiday hotel prices available at this time of year. I'm presently in San Antonio for New Year's Eve. I hope all of you are enjoying family and friends at this time of year.
This Christmas I had the pleasure of celebrating the Nativity with the children and teachers of the Colegio Esperanza in Tijuana, Mexico. No, I was in no danger of losing life or limb by being in this area of Mexico. Things have been very quietfor the children at the school. The parents outdid themselves making the costumes for the musical presentation. I always wonder at the energy and talent the children display.
The children and teachers had received their presents the day before. Our FIC Chapter always donates presents for the teachers. This year we were able to give each teacher $50 to spend as they pleased. When we look at how hard the teachers work and how eagerly the children attack their lessons , we can feel good about any donation we make.
I hope you have already made your reservations for South Africa. This should be a great trip. Sally and Peter Pawlik will make wonderful leaders. Have a good year
and keep in touch.
