In 2002 FIC visited the West Nanhua Institute of Industry and Commerce in Guangzhou, China at the invitation of Michael Yang who is Dean of the School of Busiiness Administration. Michael is standing on the left. Dean Yang assigned a student to each one of us to be our guide for the day. For many that was the highlight of the trip.

Michael has kept in touch with FIC. On September 8, 2008 he wrote:

The Olympics are over, and the Paralympics have begun. Many of us feel that China has become much more advanced ("more powerful") than before and that we can feel more pride in being a Chinese because we could do so well...

China has changed so much now, but something will not change that easily, like the traditional cultural things rooted in ordinary people and their daily life. I think the way we think and react would not change that easily, even if there are now so many beautiful buildings everywhere. If you come into an ordinary Chinese home, you could easily see the cultural things unchanged. That's why we are Chinese...

Our school has changed a lot, by the way, and we hope you could come back again some time to see the changes. We still cherish that time you came to our school... How time flies.
